Baba Ghanoush
Whole eggplants kissed directly on the coals until the skin blackens and the flesh collapses into smoke. Folded with tahini, lemon, and a whisper of garlic. Crowned with pomegranate and a thread of our house olive oil.

Kafta bil Karaz
Hand-rolled lamb kafta simmered in a tart Morello cherry sauce — a dish from the mountains of northern Lebanon that your grandmother would recognize. Served bubbling in a copper pan with toasted pine nuts scattered on top.

Shish Taouk
Chicken thighs marinated overnight in yogurt, seven spices, and fresh lemon. Threaded on skewers and cooked directly over hardwood charcoal until the edges char and the inside stays impossibly juicy. Served with toum — the white gold of Lebanese cooking.

I moved from Beirut eight years ago and stopped trying to find Lebanese food that didn't disappoint me. Then I found Mezze. The arak is cold, the bread is hot, and the shish taouk is charred exactly how it should be.
"The fattoush crackled exactly right. I grew up eating my sitto's version every Sunday, and this was the first time a restaurant has ever come close. We stayed three hours."

Friday dinner, party of two
"Booked the private room for our team dinner. The private dining coordinator handled everything — dietary needs, the lot. The kafta bil karaz had people quiet in the best possible way."
